I’ve been to Montana’s restaurant a few times since being diagnosed with Celiac disease. I have found both their Halifax and Dartmouth Crossing locations to be Celiac-friendly. I always request an allergen chart (which you can see online here) and am always given one. The servers always seem more than happy to accommodate me and have nothing but a positive attitude.  I wouldn’t quiz them on the fine points of Celiac disease, but they seem to know enough to be able to serve food sensitive customers safely.

Their gluten-free options include potato skins, several salads (except Caesar and anything with Lemon Garlic Vinaigrette), ribs, steaks, rotisserie chicken, and many of their side dishes. Their Texas Bold and Apple Butter barbeque sauces are also gluten-free.

I even ordered their Pulled Chicken sandwich once with no bun, and it was nicely served in a small side dish, a suggestion that the waitress made to the kitchen.

For dessert, you’re limited to ice cream (which I consider no dessert at all), but desserts at chain restaurants usually aren’t that great, so I don’t consider that too much of a loss.

Overall, I find that  Montana’s sets a good example for chain restaurants: pleasant service, willing to help customers find good food choices, and a wide variety of gluten-free options.

I’m glad to hear that. I like Montana’s so I am happy to hear that they are both educated and helpful. Thanks for the advice. We need you to do a big tour of Truro and let us know who’s good over here too!
