Update on Chef Damian Cardone

Yesterday I blogged about Damian Cardone, the Colorado chef who went on a rant on his Facebook page admitting to poisoning those with Celiac disease.

Although his Facebook page appears to be shut down, here’s a snapshot of the page yesterday:

On another page, he said, “God help the Liberal hippie idiot whos [sic] going to ask for gluten free pasta this weekend.”

The Internet has exploded with outrage. Complaints have been filed with the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, local police departments, the Colorado Division of Environmental Health and Sustainability, various consumerist organizations, and God himself.

The media in Glenwood Springs (where Cardone works) has also been alerted. The Glenwood Springs Post Independent released an article this morning, which you can read here. According to the article, Cardone was only a waiter at Florindo’s and left March 15. (He still would have the opportunity to sabotage food, in my opinion.) He was a chef at two other high-profile restaurants: Sopris in Aspen (where Michael Douglas has dined) and Buffalo Valley.

In addition to this article, people have posted to the Today show and The View. I am particularly interested in this latter thread as Elisabeth Hasselback has Celiac disease and has been a huge advocate for it!

You can also read the original thread at Reddit here.

I’ll keep blogging as I read more… for now, I hope someone gives this guy Celiac disease, feeds him three loaves of whole-wheat bread, and stuffs him into a small cell with no toilet!

Yesterday I saw your initial post, and looked up the Facebook page, too and was totally disgusted with the guy. Just had a look at the View article you linked to and see there is some question about his credibility as a chef. This makes me feel better, because yesterday as I looked at this story it dawned on me that him moving from the restaurant community to work as a private chef could have been the result of no one wanting to have him work in their restaurants – the guy is a menace. If he is a journeyman chef, I hope there is some process to revoke his credentials on the basis of his own admission of unethical behaviour.
Thanks for sharing this with us!

Nah. Just force feed him Taco Bell and then ask him to poop in a toilet that will break within 5 seconds.
