Reader Michael told me this morning that Chex Cereal is coming to Canada next month! I did some digging and found this site, which has a picture of Honey Nut and Rice Chex, clearly marked as gluten-free, and different from their U.S. packaging:
Additionally, today I received an email from General Mills:
“Great tasting Honey Nut Chex and Rice Chex will be available in the cereal aisle at national retailers across the country by the end of June.”
I think we can all agree that this is fantastic news for Celiacs in Canada.
I am really excited by this, even if it is only two flavours for now! I eat a ton of Chex and there are a lot of recipes and things that you can do with it. From this site, you can also sign up for news, coupons, and recipes. (Life Made Delicious is run by General Mills Canada, who makes Chex.) The Chex site also has a ton of recipes, too.
I am also intrigued by the timing; gluten-free Rice Krispies are being released in the United States in May, but they are not coming to Canada.
Take this opportunity to support General Mills and give them a hand for giving us some better gluten-free cereal options! And let us know when you actually see Chex in Canada.
