Great Gluten-Free Alternatives!

I find that having good gluten-free alternatives for foods I love makes the diet so much easier! With this in mind, I’d like to share some gluten-free options for my favorite foods.

If You’re Craving This…

…Try This!

Poutine

Did you know that you can make your own poutine in under ten minutes with McCain’s SuperQuick fries, Maxwell’s gluten-free gravy, and fresh cheese curds (or mozzarella cheese)? (Sorry waistline!)

If you’re eating out, New York Fries’ poutines are gluten-free. Smoke’s Poutinerie also has a gluten-free peppercorn poutine.

Bagels

Udi’s gluten-free bagels are a bit expensive, but they’re a big hit with Celiacs. (They’re also dairy and nut free!)

Chocolate Chip Cookies

President’s Choice gluten-free chocolate chip cookies (available in the bakery) are as good as the originals!

Cookies and Cream

Hershey’s Cookies n’Creme drops give you that cookie flavour with corn flour!

Beer

Glutenberg Blonde is by far our favourite gluten-free beer. It’s available at the NSLC and many restaurants and pubs.

Pringles

Lay’s Stax are gluten-free and almost the same as Pringles (minus the wheat starch, of course).

Garlic Bread

Schoolhouse Gourmet’s focaccia rounds are amazing, especially when topped with garlic butter and cheese.

Pizza

So many options, we wrote an entire post about it!

Nachos and Beer

Finbar’s in Bedford has gluten-free nachos, beer, cider, and many other options.

Pub Food

If you love mozzarella sticks, onion rings, deep-fried fish, and all those other battered goodies that are so bad for you, head to the United States and get some gluten-free Bisquick. Then, check out our recipes in this post.

If you’ve got a craving that you can’t find a gluten-free solution for, please let us know and we’ll try to help!

Oh my gosh! Love your blog! I am your East Coast Neighbor (in New Brunswick) and it’s my 2016 resolution to start a gluten-free foodie blog! Thanks so much for all your gf cheats. I have been dying for some delicious pizza. I can’t wait to try some of the options you’ve mentioned

Thanks for the kind words! Our blog has been pretty quiet over the past year but we are still here. 🙂 Good luck with things and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Cheers!
