Sobeys’ Compliments Brand Launches Gluten-Free Line!

Last year, Loblaws’ President’s Choice brand launched a gluten-free baked goods line. Since then, they’ve expanded into baking mixes, pastas, and crackers. The other day, we were picking up some Udi’s bread at our local Sobeys, and we noticed that there is now a Compliments line of gluten-free baked goods, rolls, and breads!

The product list includes:

  • Mini Chocolate Brownies ($4.89 for a 228 gram package)
  • Quinoa Cookies ($4.19 for a package of 10-12)
  • Quinoa Muffins ($4.99 for 4)
  • Lemon Cranberry Muffins ($4.99 for 4)
  • White and Multigrain Sandwich Rolls ($4.29 for 4)
  • Hot Cross Buns ($6.79 for 4)
  • Several varieties of bread, including white, multigrain chia, and cinnamon-raisin ($5.99 a loaf)

The other piece of good news is that all of these products are made in a dedicated facility and certified by the Canadian Celiac Association so we can feel confident eating them. And, the Sobeys website has tons of recipes to help you enjoy these new products!

We’ve tried a few of these products so far and have really enjoyed them. My favourite so far has been the sandwich rolls. It’s really nice to see some different offerings, and we can’t wait to see what’s coming up next.

      Sobeys new gluten free breads are terrible, went there yesterday, they were sampling them, even the sample lady said they were disgusting, dry, tasted like sawdust. fell apart in your hand.

        That’s interesting… I’ve tried the white farmhouse loaf and the sandwich rolls. I found both to be very tasty (although a bit heavy on the rice flavour), soft, moist, and not crumbly.

    FYI, I spoke recently with the gluten-free “buyer” for Sobeys at the Windsor St. branch – she invites any suggestions for gf products that they could carry, they seem very interested to develop as full a selection of gf products as possible, and the selection they carry now is quite impressive.

      Thanks for the info Joyce! For years, I have always found their selection to be the best in HRM, and it’s great to know that they’re still growing it. 🙂

    Can you publish a nutritional comparison between Sobeys new Gluten Free breads and UDI’s – much the same as the Dempsters comparison. I think you’ll be very pleasantly surprised !!!

      I definitely will the next time we pick up a loaf. I might even get info for the Glutino and PC breads too… I remember looking at the Sobeys bread and thinking it was pretty good, so this will be interesting!

    I tried the sandwich rolls too and loved them! Mini garlic bread is a great idea. Can’t wait to try it. 🙂
