10 Fast, Easy, Gluten-Free Meal Ideas

As the days get longer and warmer, who wants to spend a ton of time in the kitchen? Luckily, we’ve got 10 easy, fast, gluten-free meal ideas that are sure to please the whole family.

Quinoa Salad

This quinoa recipe is ready in about half an hour. To speed things up, make a batch of quinoa on the weekend and then just mix in your veggies and dressing. You can also add grilled fish to this recipe, which usually takes about 10 minutes to prepare.

Grilled Fish

In fact, grilled fish is one of our favourite fast meals! For something a little fancier, try these Garlic-Ginger Salmon Packets.

Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and cheese can be healthy if you use light cheese and low-fat milk, and add some vegetables. We love this recipe, substituting in gluten-free flour and gluten-free pasta. We usually add broccoli in with the pasta to make things a bit healthier.

We keep some frozen chicken pieces in the freezer for taco night. While the oven is preheating, we prep vegetables and put condiments (like sour cream, salsa, and guacamole) into serving dishes. Then, the chicken goes into the frying pan with some spices and gluten-free taco shells (like Old El Paso’s) go into the oven. A few minutes later, everything is ready for tacos to be assembled.

Chicken Burgers

We love to pair President’s Choice gluten-free quinoa crusted chicken breasts with an Udi’s hamburger bun, some lettuce, and some mayo for a fast, easy meal.

La Tortilla Factory’s gluten-free wraps are a staple in our house. We’ve made Caesar-style wraps with Pinty’s gluten-free chicken nuggets, clubhouse-style wraps with unbreaded chicken pieces, and even Asian-style wraps with leftover quinoa.

We always have a box of gluten-free spaghetti and some gluten-free pasta sauce on hand. To keep things healthy, look for a sauce that’s low in sodium and sugar and high in vegetables.

Why not whip up some gluten-free pancakes for supper? There are lots of great mixes out there, or try this Chocolate-Banana Pancake recipe.

Stir Fry

Stir fries are great for using up random vegetables and they can be prepared in less than 15 minutes. This mix-and-match guide from Kraft is great! Just be sure to use a gluten-free dressing and soy sauce.

One-Dish Chicken Bake

This chicken dish takes about 45 minutes to prepare but is well worth the few extra minutes. Mix it up by using whatever vegetables, salad dressing, or barbeque sauce that you have on hand.

Great list. Where do you get the La Tortilla Factory GF wraps? I use the Food For Life GF wraps, which are excellent, but I’m curious about these LTF wraps.

I get them at Pete’s in Bedford, but apparently some Sobeys stores are starting to carry them. If you don’t see them at your Sobeys they can probably get them in. They are awesome, especially when heated for a few minutes in a skillet! Just make sure that they say GF on the package as there are several different varieties.
