It’s the best time of year: barbeques, food, and fun are the theme. We’ve put together a three-part guide to help you plan a gluten-free BBQ that will be a blast for everyone.
First things first: put together a punch bowl full of fizzy fun. We love this sangria recipe and it’s easy to double or even triple! We’ve been using homemade white wine and it turns out great. You can even use non-alcoholic white wine. No need to break the bank on an expensive bottle!

Natural Selections Weiners Now Gluten-Free!

We picked up some Maple Leaf Natural Selections hot dogs today and got a pleasant surprise! They are now labelled gluten-free! (Before, they contained no gluten but Maple Leaf wouldn’t guarantee that there was no cross-contamination.) Have you ever wondered whether movie theater popcorn is safe for Celiacs? Here in Nova Scotia, there is just one movie theater chain (Empire Theatres) so I e-mailed them and asked if their popcorn contains gluten.

Handmade Corn Pasta at Ristorante a Mano!

I’ve walked by Ristorante a Mano many times and have always wanted to eat there. After seeing a tweet a few weeks ago that said they make their own corn pasta every morning, we finally made a reservation last Friday night.
Since Ristorante a Mano is run by the Bertossi group, who also own The Bicycle Thief (read our review here) and il Mercato (which is also gluten-friendly, but we haven’t reviewed), we were expecting an authentic Italian experience, and we weren’t disappointed.
